Shop Smartly For a Wind Turbine
November 7th, 2009If you do your shopping smartly, or with the help of a proper do-it-yourself kit, you should not be spending more than $200 for the materials required. You do have to be at least technically knowledgeable, although the tools required are nothing special. And even so, you can always involve a friend or a family member who is more technically inclined to help you out with assembling the parts together. In addition to the lowered electric bills, many complete kits are selling for upwards of $1000 or more. This is unnecessary expense, especially when there are many quality guides available that will tell you exactly how to build and install your own for as little as $150 to $200. Better Quality Control - By building your own wind turbines, you also control the quality of the components from start to finish. Wind power is the most obvious alternative at the present time. The individual consumer can do his part by installing a wind turbine or more than one on his propery. A home built wind turbine made from auto parts and a few odds and ends is quite inexpensive and one or more of them can generate all or most of the power needed. They can be installed on the roof of a building or on their own free standing tower. It is not true that wind turbines are 100% environment friendly, because when factories build them, they do emit some pollution into the air. But that is a onetime pollution against the constant negative effects of regular electricity production with for example burning of coal.- They are noisy mechanisms. Wind energy as a means of producing electricity has become one of the most popular methods of going green. Its not just wind farms that are generating power from the wind, however. Home wind turbines are showing up in the most unlikely places. A teenage boy in Africa built a home wind turbine that supplies his familys electricity needs for their small home. Built entirely from scrap parts, this ingenious young man is truly an inspiration. That is living off the grid in its purest form.
